The report

Today was a nice short day before I final day to John O’groats. We left our hotel at about 5 to 8 for the first section of todays riding. We had a tail wind and it was downhill a lot so we were faster than usual on this section. It was almost exactly 50k to our first stop at Bonar Bridge which we did in about 2 hours 10 minutes. The first 6k was slightly downhill so we did that at about 30kph. We had some hills after this but nothing big so we were able to make good time. After we left Bonar Bridge we had just 16k to our next stop in Lairg. We reached Lairg at about 1 o’clock. We decided to stop again here as it was the last town before our hotel and we wanted some more food before the end of the day. The last section of riding to our hotel was 20k all uphill. There was nothing until we reached The Crask Inn at about 10 to 2. Despite not seeing anything for 20k Scotland still kept the riding interesting. As I commented at the time: it’s alway amazing how many different types of nothing you can find in the highlands.
