The report
Halfway there! Day 6 took us from Bolton to Shap and was the half way point of our ride. After a large breakfast we left our hotel at quarter to 8. We rode 45k to Garstang where we stopped for a snack. Then we rode to Holme and stopped again for a portion of chips each. The last 40k of the day to our hotel was incredibly tough. We had some rain and lots of climbing but the scenery was stunning. We reached our hotel at around 20 to 6 and had some dinner at the hotel.

The report
We couldn’t get breakfast as early as we would have liked in our Shap hotel so didn’t leave until 8:40. It was uphill for the first few kilometres but the beautiful scenery took our minds off the pain. Our first stop of the day was Penrith after around 35k and just under 2 hours of riding. After another 30k or so we reached Carlisle at around 10 to 1 and ate lunch in a supermarket car park. We then rode another 42k to Lockerbie where we stopped for some snacks. The last leg of todays riding was a short 26k downhill ride to our hotel in Moffat. We reached our hotel just after 6 o’clock and went out to get some dinner.
Tomorrow we leave Moffat for Kinross. To follow the rest of our journey subscribe to this blog and follow me on Twitter @firstplacetri
